Economia cattolica e liberismo: riflessioni sul pensiero spagnolo di fine Ottocento

The essay focuses on the relationship between economics and religion in Spain examining the final part of the nineteenth century. This is an important period for Spanish culture and for the subsequent development in political and economic thought. Following the investigation proposed, the social doctrine of the Church and the political-economic ideology of the end of the century were the subject of the analysis by some religious scholars - Jesuits and Dominicans - certainly influential. Their discussions tended to strengthen a particular path dependency since a cultural process of reactivation of the religious and social philosophy of Neotomism clearly emerges. The work focuses almost exclusively on the relationship between liberal market theory and religious habitus, but also gathers a final reflection in the item of the so-called geography of economic thought.
