Abstract

This study tries to take stock on the knowledge acquired so far with regard to the gradual romanization process, which took place between the III and I century B.C. in the central-Apennine area. In particular, in the zone corresponding to the ager of Tifernum Mataurense (Sant’Angelo in Vado - PU) in the upper valley of Metauro; the research also took place in the light of some significant data and finds of excavation, which have been collected in the last five years by University of Macerata. After the elevation to the status of municipium, Tifernum Mataurense, probably a predominant aggregative reality already in the III-II century B.C., enjoys discreet well-being and urbanistic growth, in the late-republican age perhaps helped by the intervention of wealthy personalities linked to the central power in various ways. In the background, we glimpse political, social and economic dynamics underway in the city in relationship with Rome, such as the homogenization to the changes of system, the expectations of the new course and finally the functional and ideological impact of the roman model.
