The aim of this paper is to propose an interdisciplinary approach to enhance cultural heritage in inner areas and then foster the demographic and economic revitalization of peripheral hamlets. The work carries out a literature review in management and history of art, extracting a model of analysis to be applied to cultural heritage of outlying hamlets, with particular attention to inner and depopulated areas. This model is tested on a sample case study, selected from the hamlets historically gravitating around Visso (MC), highlighting the value of presentation of artistic heritage, in relation to the place and time-specific value of documentation. At this stage the research is limited to the identification of possible strategies for communicating this value, postponing to further investigation the analysis of the value of landscape and production, as identified by Montella (2009). The application of the model here presented provides guidelines to policy makers that operate at different levels in the management of territory for sustainable development.
